The End…of the Beginning

The construction work is complete, and now the important work begins. The Kids Theatre and classroom expansion was fun to track, but the ultimate goal is to see hundreds of children every week learning and applying biblical truths. This building is just a tool that can be used in the right way to come alongside families in the discipleship of their preschoolers and grade school children.

For our last post, enjoy a video tour from Pastor Jeff of First McKinney!

Theater Update

If you walked into the first floor right now, it would like very close to completion. Not much has changed. Fixtures and millwork will complete the project.

The second floor will be home to the Kids Theatre, featuring KidStuf. The theatre still has some work to go. Here is an update:

Screens

This is looking stage right at a screen opening to the side of the platform. Above you can see the exposed duct work, that will soon be blue!

Back of the Theater

This is a viewpoint from the stage, looking to the back of the theater. The four door-sized openings you see will be storage cabinets behind the media booth. The large opening at top is a “crow’s nest” where the media team can operate cameras, follow spots, etc out of the reach of little hands.

House lighting

The exposed rafters have been coated with an acoustic material to absorb stray sound waves. The house lighting has also been installed.

Finishing steps in the theater: final duct work, paint, carpet, and installation of Audio/Visual/Lighting equipment.

The Window on the World…

…has been closed up by sheets of plywood.  Windows and columns will soon be removed as the old building is tied in with the new.

Future blog pics will be taken from within.  Stay tuned for more updates!

Sheetrock

It’s amazing what some pieces of sheetrock can do to help give a visual impression of a space.  Rock is up on most of the walls on both floors.

Sheetrock

If you look carefully at the picture, you can see the framing being prepared for a poured concrete stage.
